Nitrogen Fixation Methods
Nitrogen fixation is the process where nitrogen from the atmosphere is converted into nitrates. There are two ways in which nitrogen fixation can occur.
2. The second method of nitrogen fixation is through bacteria. These bacteria are found mainly in soil, but also on plants called legumes. The bacteria provide the plants with nitrates through their own supply of nitrogen, while the plants provide the bacteria sugars needed to make nitrates. Excess nitrates are released into the soil for other plants to use.
