Aeration: Does it Help?
Aeration is where soil is shifted or changed in a way that allows for air pockets to be formed within the soil. This is helpful for plants since it allows for oxygen flow between the soil. This oxygen is then provided for bacteria, which then allows the bacteria to perform nitrification rather than denitrification. This simply means that the plants are able to receive more nitrates. Methods used to aerate soil can include: turning soil, plowing soil or punching small holes into the ground.
